New Yorker Justin Rhodes and his South African partner Cameron Munro started What if the World with a tiny gallery in the East City Precinct. The idea was to create a community-conscious platform for emerging young artists to strut their stuff, while also playing host to workshops, art events and collaborative initiatives. The duo has since moved on to bigger things with a sexy new gallery space in rising art hub, Woodstock. Their old premises were converted into a burgeoning design studio showcasing work by up-and-comers like Adriaan Hugo; the Woodstock space celebrates the likes of conceptual art collective Avant Car Guard and whimsical illustrator Michael Taylor.
