There's a certain retro appeal to the huge orange lampshades dangling from the ceiling of the Baxter. But apart from the lighting, the theatre provides a wide range of entertainment options, from cutting- edge and major theatre from Africa and beyond to comedy, dance and children's plays. Its Monday-night special - R50 for a meal and a selected show - is a deal clincher.
