This 1,000-metre-square outdoor ice rink (there's a less imposing rink for children as well as a rinkside fairground carousel) is one of the Christmas season's highlights. Alfred Waterhouse's Natural History Museum provides a stunning backdrop, while the trees are decked with thousands of fairy lights to add to the festive atmosphere. Spectators can take in the scene with a hot chocolate or mulled wine from the balcony café/bar overlooking the ice.

To be avoided on sunny days as it gets waterlogged and a fall would result in a drenching. My little daughter's birthday was ruined as she and her mum both fell in the waterlogged half of the rink and got sodden.
What a fantastic way to get in the Christmas spirit - it's by far the best ice skating rink in London. The fairy lights in the trees look amazing. Will be going again for sure!
My favourite in London, tried all the others over the years and this is the one we come back to now. My wife likes watching from the balcony while I wobble around with the kids!
Have skated on the Nat Hist Mus ice rink a few times but last year was not such a great experience - it was seriously cold and the ice was all bumpy. However, it snowed while my daughter and I were skating which was lovely and buying the photo key rings at the end was a nice way to remember a special day out. This year its my son's turn!
We had a great time at the natural history museum ice rink - great staff, great cafe (overlooking the ice!) and they do this great thing during the week where you can skate for three hours in the morning for the price of a normal ticket!! Totally amazing day out.
By far the best ice rink in London....and the Mulled Wine is ace.
