Do you live in Greenwich? Congratulations, you officially live in the most miserable borough in London. Sorry about that. The south-east London borough has been ranked the most unhappy place in London according to a survey from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), which looked at personal well-being across the UK.
The survey asked respondents questions about their levels of happiness, anxiety, life satisfaction and whether they found their lives worthwhile. But it's not just the folks in Greenwich who are glum – Lambeth came in second as the most miserable London borough, followed by Islington, Haringey and Croydon.
The findings also showed that the top three boroughs for anxiety levels in the entire country were Hammersmith and Fulham, Sutton and – you guessed it – Greenwich.
If all this is getting you down, you better up sticks and move to Redbridge, stat. Despite being on the dreaded Central line (the busiest, hottest and most delayed tube line on the Underground), Redbridge was ranked the happiest borough in London. Even if it is all the way out in Zone 4. If Redbridge doesn't appeal, Richmond-upon-Thames was ranked the second happiest London borough, followed by Newham. But just be glad you don't live in East Northamptonshire, which was named the most miserable place to live in the UK. And they don't even have a train station if you want to get the hell outta there.
