Still got that baller post-payday feeling? We've got some bad news that might make you want to re-think that lunchtime splurge in Pret and reach for the tupperware instead. According to research from iZettle, London is the most expensive place in the UK to buy lunch. They say Londoners spend an average of £6.60 on lunch per day, which amounts to nearly £2,500 per year, which makes us want to weep into our extortionately priced meal deal.

And despite the fact that London is not short on lunch options (mail-order cheese toastie, anyone?) it turns out we're actually a pretty boring bunch, as more than ten percent of lunch purchases in London include a bog-standard chicken sandwich. To make matters even more depressing, over half of us are scoffing our boring, overpriced lunches at our desk, compared to 38 percent across the rest of the UK. Although it's not just Londoners who are playing it safe – the study also found that 32 percent of people across the UK have eaten the same thing for lunch EVERY DAY for the last four and a half years. Seriously, guys – mix it up once in a while.

Now if you'll excuse us, we're off to cheer ourselves up with a nice chicken sarnie.
