These photos of Londoners on the night bus are eerily beautiful

Street photographer Nick Turpin spent two chilly winters at the Elephant & Castle roundabout photographing Londoners through the steamed-up windows of night buses. Blurred faces deep in contemplation or conversation take on an ethereal, ghostly hue through the condensation of the window. And the many fingerprints smudged against the glass appear like a painterly palimpsest of all the journeys taken by the city's nocturnal travellers.

Published by Hoxton Mini Press, with an intro by author Will Self, 'On The Night Bus' raises questions about voyeurism and the thin line between public and private space. You never know, your face might have found its way onto these pages.

On The Night Bus by Nick Turpin is published by Hoxton Mini Press. £16.95.
