  • Have been going to the Paxton for the last 16 months and always had a great time and felt very welcome with my family. yesterday howevere was the last time i will go there. the amazing friendly manger that used to run the place has been replaced by a very rude and unfriendly one. i was shock to be asked to keep my baby quiet. it was only 6pm my daughter was laughing and no louder than the group of adults at the back of the pub. they market them selfs as a family friendly pub but clearly there new manger has a problem with children.

  • On a recent trip to the Paxton on a lazy Sunday ended up with me guzzling one drink and leaving in disgust! Service was appalling ... Managed to find a small table as inside was chaotic ... Dirty tables filled with messy half eaten plates. Waitress avoided me and my friend and attended every table around us ... We felt invisible even though I was trying to get her attention! ... 3 attempts to order a drink was impossible ... As they had no clean glasses ... Bar staff were rinsing a wine glass infront of me! ... Tried to order 2 portions of chips ... Went to the bar only to be told that its table service and I replied that we had asked 3 times to be served and that we had to wait due to staff shortages! .... The chap in the kitchen who I can only assume was the head chef as he was running the pass ... Plated approx 20 plates of food whilst I was waiting at the bar again! Not once did he wash his hands or bothered to put on a pair of gloves but was happy to put his grubby mits in every bowl and container possible slopping it onto plates! Vile!! .... Sadly for me I won't be returning as this seems to be an ongoing experience for us at the Paxton ... Shame has its only down the road from where I live!

  • Very disappointing trip to The Paxton - unsure what this place is trying to be & who their target market is - front bar showing football on huge screens - 'family friendly' back room rammed full of tables so close you were practically joining the table behind - waited 20 mins before we managed to order a drink which then took another 20 to arrive - asked the 1 waitress who seemed to be working the entire room how long food would be once ordered, as the children who were with us wouldn't beable to cope waiting too long - was told the chef was 'pissed off' as he'd been asked too many questions so she couldn't tell us! So many more family friendly places around as well as decent pubs showing the football without children on the rampage!! Avoid!

  • The staff, environment and food are all great! The pub quiz on a Wednesday night is the best £2 I have spent in ages! Really disappointed to miss it this week due to work commitments, I won't make that mistake again! Beer and wine is not cheap but certainly not the most expensive in the area and the reasonably priced good quality food off sets it anyway.

  • Have eaten here twice. Once for lunch and another time for dinner. Found the food to be nice. Lamb meatballs was extremely tasty....husband had the burger and he liked that too. We didn't have any alcohol so cannot comment on the price of beer etc. But overall experience was very nice. This pub is local to me, and would definitely go again.

  • I was looking forward to the "Paxton" , it took several months before opening, then what a disappointment. The draft beer is extortionately expensive at £4 per pint, not even pedigree beers or JD or pedigree vodka yet they want top dollar prices! The food is average........stay clear go up to the crystal palace triangle.

  • We were very excited about our local pub reopening and the refurb they have done us great and they do have a good selection of Beers, but there are quite a few negatives already about this place. Beer prices are extremely expensive at £4.10 for Meantime! And the food is very average. The menu looks interesting but the food really doesn't taste that great. Pumpkin Curry doesn't even taste of curry it just has a lot of pepper added to the sauce!
