Formerly known as Superstar, this popular establishment has reinvented itself with a new management and new chefs – but thankfully the food is as good as its predecessor. On a Sunday morning, the venue was abuzz with families and couples, all enjoying their weekly dim sum in bright, spacious and classy surroundings (in a converted warehouse with, sadly, no river view). Chinese murals line the room, broken up by dark, wooden beams. Nearly all the dim sum we tried were faultless: scallop cheung fun was delightfully silky, the flavour of the scallop subtle; turnip cake was perfectly crisp and rich, with plenty of turnip; pork and prawn dumplings were intense with the flavour of shiitake mushrooms, belying a dull exterior. The only anomaly was the siu loon bao – two out of three of our delicate pork dumplings were ripped at the bottom, and thus drained of all their savoury broth (the other, however, was superb). Service was spot-on and attentive. The waiting staff noted our desire for dessert after the meal and came back accordingly to take the order; we left feeling well-catered for, and highly satisfied.
