The colour red represents fire, passion, and in Rossopomodoro’s case, tomatoes, and plenty of them. Tins are stacked around the room to create an eye-catching installation of which Andy Warhol would be proud. This vibrant restaurant is good fun from the word go. Thanks to friendly staff and an upbeat soundtrack, it has a tangible buzz even when empty early in the evening. The Fulham Road branch is part of a chain originating in Italy that has recently expanded to Covent Garden and Notting Hill. Yet the place still feels fresh, not formulaic, with its bright, modern room, a mix of high and low tables, and an adventurous menu. Pizza-makers do their thing in full view of diners. They clearly know their craft, expertly executing everything from a simple napoli to the vesuvius: double-layered and bursting with cheese, salami and, of course, tomatoes. Starters were just as successful; a thoughtful waitress warned us that our Italian-style tortilla would take 20 minutes – it was worth the wait. Diners vary from dough-eyed couples to groups of families and friends – all revelling in this vivacious venue.
Time Out Eating & Drinking Guide 2009
I have spent the last 2 years single, with a couple of false-starts along the way. Having probably become briefly acquainted with the majority of...
poor service and mistakes in the bill. Do check it.
Central London Branch/Covent Garden
Central London restaurant.
What promised to be an Italian culinary experience, slowly turned into a disappointment: We had to wait 1hr 15min for the starters to be served. Needless to say, the mood of our party had deteriorated considerably for the worse. I would have liked to comment on their pizzas, but instead decided to leave to have dinner elsewhere.
There is a lack of professional customer service.
I do not recommend this restaurant. There are a variety of other restaurants serving pizzas at better value, and probably at a quicker pace.
Recommended by my wife's Naples born hairdresser. Yes the pizza was authentic and delicious, the wine rich and the starters very tasty. But what a pity there is a bunch of pathetic amateurs serving - especially the preening males. Too busy flirting and having fun. No sense of what is happening on the tables. Can't be asked (politely) - too proud and macho. 12.5%gratuity on the bill denied me the opportunity of witholding it. We won't be going again. Get a grip!
Was about to leave a comment ... but it's already been left.
The salad consists of iceberg lettuce cut up, with a quartered tomato and quartered egg, three strands of dead rocket, a grating of cheese - all for the bargain price of £12 including service. They also forgot the cutlery.
My comment applies to the one in covent garden. But clearly the whole chain thinks it can get away with it. Terrible.
Surely the best pizza in London. If you like real italian pizza and you know what that is then you will love rosso pomodrro. I love pizza and since eating their pizzas i haven't been able to enjoy opther chains offerings, because I'm always comparing it to theirs. To be fair I onlever have their margaharita, because I'm a bit opf a purist.
The food was disgusting. The Rossopomodoro salad was a mangled iceberg with a quartered unripe tomato and a quartered hard boiled egg while the caciocavallo was a tired cold slab of moz with a slice of leathery something plus precooked burnt mushrooms. Never again.
