Daylesford's London outlets are in carefully chosen sites: here, on an upmarket shopping street, another in a villagey part of Pimlico, and one in Selfridges. All ideal locations for chichi café-delis serving (mostly) organic brasserie fare: smoked salmon with herb leaf salad and melba toast; welsh rarebit with chutney and mixed leaves; rare roast beef with horseradish and mustard dressing; and a selection of salads (bulgar wheat with broad beans, red onion, parsley and mint; beetroot with red onion, red pepper, spinach and spiced almonds).
At the Westbourne Grove branch, there's seating at communal tables and on bar stools. There's always a queue at weekends, and on our visit there weren't enough waiting staff to keep pace with the brunching masses. We plumped for soup of the day (chilled tomato, cucumber and fennel), caesar salad, beef burger, and (best of all) yoghurt panna cotta with raspberries. All were good, but unmemorable, and all seemed slightly more expensive than justified; the modestly sized burger, for example, cost £12.95.
The prices are partly a result of careful sourcing (much of the produce comes from Daylesford's organic estate; bread and dairy products are also made there), and it's unlikely that their core customers are counting the pennies - but this isn't the place for a quick, inexpensive lunch.

I had to wait 20minutes for someone to take my order (after asking twice) then I waited another 40minutes with nothing arriving. I left after 1hour without having been given so much as my water. The staff were rude and inattentive. I will not be going here again.
