Defiantly non-corporate despite its City postcode, this combination deli, lunchtime takeaway spot and compact vegetarian restaurant offers interesting salads (such as beetroot, watercress, walnut and honey), imaginative sandwiches (smoked mozzarella and aubergine in piadina, an Italian flatbread) and hot takeaways (risotto with plum tomatoes, wild garlic leaves and parmesan). It's less atmospheric in the evening (gentler lighting might help) and the miniature courtyard housing three tables is cute but far too cramped. The Med-influenced menu hits the occasional flat note - nutty-textured veggie sausages were too sweet and the colcannon wasn't heated through - but a simple butternut squash and saffron risotto was tasty and generously portioned.
