The old world charm of an independent bookseller with the modern wit and wisdom of two brilliant women who run it, Atlantis has been the inspiration for many in almost every walk of life (particularly some pretty high profile rock stars!). When in a good mood (and they normally are) you might even get a cup of tea if you're interesting enough!
The Atlantis Bookshop is a great place to escape the bustle of London's West End and restore your sense of wonder. It has a fine selection of new and second-hand books on a wide range of mind-boggling subjects and Geraldine and Bali are on hand to help point you towards something that might be of interest. If you are feeling in need of a bit of magic or trying to unravel a mystery, then I suggest you pop in there at the first available opportunity - you never know where you might end up!
An inspirational book store with the Geraldine and her daughter actually knowing about the books in the shop and an awful lot more a place not too miss
Visited today for you first time in 25 years and left feeling both refreshed and inspired.
Well worth a visit. 5*
One of the friendliest book shops I have ever been to. Although I'm from Northampton, I make a point of visiting them at least once a year.
A warm and friendly welcome at this unique and unusual bookshop - just like browsing in a friend`s sitting-room! A real one-off.
Geraldine is a joy to talk to; her knowledge of the Occult & Magical world is breath taking. It is always worth popping in here even if it is just for a chat! Actually I have been 'popping in here' for 35 years odd!
I have been visiting this shop since the 1960's in pursuit of the Hidden Knowledge. Friendly and informed advice is always available from the staff.
Atlantis Bookshop is a wonderful place if you are looking for esoteric and occult books, or wish to participate in evens linked to such books.
I've been going to the Atlantis Bookshop for about 30 years and have seen a number of changes its always a great shop full of the most wonderful books one of Londons top gems bright blessings Atlantis Bookshop
Atlantis has to be one of the most interesting and friendly mysterious bookshops in London! The centre of everything you need to know about all things mystical and magical, it's a great place to pop in for a chat with owners Geraldine or Bali and hear about London's unseen and mystical past, hidden chambers, occult secrets and witchcraft. A lot of it abounds in London's great city, and Atlantis has been at the centre for many many years. Fancy something different his Halloween? Buy some mystical fiction from Atlantis! What better after a spooky visit to the Egyptian mummies at the British Museum? You won't find anything else like this wonderful shop in Bloomsbury!
Wonderful place run by two wonderful ladies. The Atlantis Bookshop is filled with Love and rare books, with expert knowledge and delightful conversations, with friendly spirits' whispers in the walls and with all you need to start or carry on with your journey in the world of Magick.
The Atlantis Bookshop, the place to be, the place to shop, the place to vote for!
The best bookshop to visit , a chat with the very knowledgeable Gerladine helps with making a more informed purchase !
Atlantis Books is famous in the Netherlands as well as THE place to visit when you want to find the extraordinary books, and I have always had such nice help from the owners!
When coming to the British Museum, I always visit my second home, Atlantis Bookshop. Friendly service, great ambiance, and wonderful stock. Encyclopedic knowledge of all magical areas ensures that if they haven't got what you want, they will track it down and find it for you, or else discover something that will help you. An historic bookshop whose continuance is dear to my heart. Check out the magical and original emblems which make it a museum in its own right!
London's oldest and most famous occult and mystical bookshop. Only yards from the British Museum, and "The Plough"which was the watering hole of many of the literati in the 1920s and 1930s. Atlantis oozes historic charm, generations of British occultists and oddballs, from Aleister Crowley and Dion Fortune to many of the founders of the neo-pagan revival, have crossed it's leadlighted threshold. And it isn't just history - the proprietors Geraldine and Bali aren't just "till-minders," they live and breathe the books they sell.
The bookstock is intriguing and deals with a wide range of issues, on all levels bar the superficial. But that's not the true magic of the place ... listen to the conversations! Bali and Geraldine are national treasures!
London's most famous occult bookshop is always worth a visit. Friendly and knowledgeable owners and a wonderful selection of books, some very hard to find elsewhere.
This must be the most magical shop in the world. I have never spent such a large amount of time in a small shop. Every corner offers a new experience. From books to tarot cards from workshops to book launches the Atlantis book shop offer something for everyone from the mildly curious to the expert. After one visit you feel part of a very special family and are treated like the most important visitor in the world... Just an amazing place .
your lose time browsing though the unusual reading material. And chatting to the friendly and well informed staff.
Independent bookshops should be celebrated and none more so than this family run gem in the heart of Bloomsbury. A part of the occult and local community for 93 years. Gets my vote!
