This aristocratic Liberty villa, built in 1914, became the Hotel Miramare back in 1944. In the 1950s it sprang to fame when its restaurant and piano bar, the Shaker Club, drew top-name Italian and international singing stars for live performances. Small and family-run, it has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast is served on a roof-garden terrace with breathtaking views over the bay, and hammocks to relax in. Rooms vary in size - it's worth investing in those with sea views. Guests get a ten per cent discount at nearby restaurants La Cantinella and Il Posto Accanto.
