The racing here is trotting or horse-and-buggy racing - akin to ancient Roman carriage racing, but decidedly less dangerous. On summer evenings, races begin at 8.30pm daily, except Monday and Friday; the weekend meetings are particularly colourful. In the winter, races are organised three times a week, starting at 2.30pm. Look out for the Gran Premio Lotteria, an internationally acclaimed event that takes place every spring and showcases some of the best horse riders in the world. The programme changes month by month, so check the website for up-to-date information.
