Set in an area of stunning natural beauty on the Posillipo cliffs, this villa belonged to a Roman senator by the name of Publius Vedius Pollio. Access was, and still is, through the Grotta di Seiano. Apart from the remains of the villa itself, there's also an amphitheatre, which is used for occasional open-air concerts and has outstanding views over the small island of Gaiola. The island is the site of an ugly neoclassical villa, last owned by the Agnelli family; it is reputed to bring bad luck to all who possess it.
