Downtown and Brooklyn Francophiles, rejoice! The esteemed French Institute–Alliance Française, located on the Upper East Side, is expanding the reach of its French classes to the East Village and Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, this week. It's holding an open house to fete the move on Thursday, January 10, from 4 to 7pm at its new Brooklyn home within the International School of Brooklyn; kids' and adult French classes will be offered there beginning on Saturday, January 12. In the East Village, FIAF is partnering with the World Class Learning Academy to offer French language classes, for kids only, which began on Monday, January 7. The open house itself promises to be lots of fun, with winter-themed arts and crafts en Français (4:40–5:30pm; for kids ages 3 to 7), free mini French classes for adults (5:30–6pm, 6–6:30pm), and free wine and snacks.
