One of our favorite months has arrived and we couldn't be more excited about all of the amazing events taking place around the city. To help you plan your family's days, we present our October activities guide, which includes a fun event for every single day of the month. Mon 1 Jump in a pile of fall leaves.
Tue 2 Listen to Newbery Award winner Lois Lowry read from Son, her sequel to The Giver, at B&N on 86th Street.
Wed 3 Leapin' lizards: Previews of Annie begin today on Broadway.
Thu 4 Packed with creative works by the Rockaway-born artist, the exhibit "The Rammellzee Galaxseum" opens at CMA.
Fri 5 Treat the kids to a showing of Amigo Duende, a new musical interpretation of a Puerto Rican fairy tale, at El Museo del Barrio.
Sat 6 Celebrate Fort Washington Park's historic icon at the Little Red Lighthouse Festival.
Sun 7 Create stained glass windows and design gargoyles at the Open House New York Family Festival.
Mon 8 Learn about local hawks and kestrels at Wave Hill's Raptor Day.
Tue 9 Visit the AMNH's tropical, 1,200-square-foot Butterfly Conservatory.
Wed 10 Bid farewell to three of the four founding members of the Wiggles at their Town Hall concert.
Thu 11 Croon to retro tunes with Karen K and the Jitterbugs at Brooklyn Farmacy's Musical Morning Jams.
Fri 12 Urban, an acrobatic spectacular featuring young circus performers from Colombia, kicks off the New Vic season.
Sat 13 Time Out Kids partners with Madison Square Park for a free fall fest. We'll see you there!
Sun 14 Geek out at New York Comic Con Kids' Day.
Mon 15 Gawk at the awesome pieces on view in "Picasso Black and White" at the Guggenheim.
Tue 16 Get a spooky fix in the NYBG's Haunted Pumpkin Garden.
Wed 17 Shadow Box Theatre's annual production of Lumpy Bumpy Pumpkin teaches kids about individuality and self-confidence.
Thu 18 Head to Rock Center for ice-skating; the rink opens for the season on October 13.
Fri 19 Check out animatronic reptiles, settle in for ghost stories and enjoy 'smores at Dinosaurs After Dark.
Sat 20 Awe-inspiring stilt walkers, acrobats and jugglers take over the Bard Graduate Center for Cirkus in Wonderland.
Sun 21 Jam out with Moona Luna and the Deedle Deedle Dees at a science-themed concert at 92YTribeca.
Mon 22 Seek out Blue Marble's pumpkin ice cream.
Tue 23 Marvel at this season's Big Apple Circus show, Legendarium, at Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park.
Wed 24 The great Lemony Snicket discusses his new series, All the Wrong Questions, at the Thalia Kids' Book Club.
Thu 25 Buy a pumpkin and carve a jack-o'-lantern.
Fri 26 Take part in a Thriller tribute at the Brooklyn Children's Museum's Monster Mash.
Sat 27 Flaunt eye-catching outfits alongside gigantic puppets at BBG's Ghouls & Gourds festival.
Sun 28 Watch jack-o'-lanterns float in the Harlem Meer at the annual Central Park Halloween Parade and Pumpkin Sail.
Mon 29 Enjoy a guided tour of Alley Park Pond's spooky wooded trails on the Haunted Halloween Hike.
Tue 30 Mermaids, pirates and monsters abound in the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre's production Hansel and Gretel's Halloween Adventure.
Wed 31 Happy Halloween! Trick-or-treat among dinosaur bones at AMNH's Halloween Celebration.
