Grand Centennial Parade of Trains Weekend at Grand Central

On Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12, families from all over the city flocked to Grand Central to take part in Parade of Trains Weekend, a special celebration in honor of the transportation hub's 100th birthday. Little choo-choo lovers scoped out a model train show, took part in train-themed crafts, met the robot mascot of Metro-North and even watched a world record for the "World's Tallest Railroad Track" being set (check out a video of the event below). The coolest part of the weekend, though, may have been getting to explore the historic trains that were on display on some of Grand Central's track. Kids and parents boarded 16 rail cars dating from 1929 to 1959, including a car from “the most famous train in the world,” the 20th Century Limited. Scroll through our slide show to get a glimpse at all of the weekend's activities.
