At the annual check-up on the future Staten Island park on Sunday, September 29, families went on canoe outings, rode ponies and worked on eco-conscious crafts—in short, they got a preview of what’s to come for the former world’s largest landfill.

While construction is expected to continue for another 30 years, the (intentionally misspelled) Sneak Peak at Freshkills Park offered Staten Islanders a chance to tour the new digs. Click though our photos to see all the outdoor action.
