Coming up: Governors Island to add 30 new acres of land
Governors Island is getting an upgrade—find out what's coming to one of our favorite city green spaces in 2013.
Thu Mar 14 2013
We've named it one of the best things to do in the city and one of our favorite family attractions, and now, it's been announced that Governors Island will unveil 30 new acres of park space on October 30. The new space will have sports fields, maze-like hedges and a spot filled with hammocks strung between trees. While the area won't open, unfortunately, until after the island's regular season (May 25 to Sept 29) is over, families will be able to preview the new park spaces during special guided tours. In the meantime, get excited for Governors Island's 2013 season by scrolling through our pictures from last year's opening weekend.
