Elephant Dance Party Under the Brooklyn Bridge

While we're sad to no longer see elephants parading through the the Queens-Midtown Tunnel, we're thrilled to see Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey transform the Barclays Center into a big top for the first time this year. The legendary circus hasn't toured in the five boroughs since 2010 (its usual home, Madison Square Garden, was undergoing renovations), and it hasn't been in Brooklyn since the 1930s. To celebrate its return, and in lieu of the pachyderm processions of the past, Ringling Bros. held an elephant dance party under the Brooklyn Bridge on Wednesday, March 20. During Intrepid Kids Week we had gotten a first taste of "Built to Amaze"; this morning, we headed to Dumbo to catch a sneak peek of the new show, which premieres tonight and runs through Monday, April 1. Click through the slide show to glimpse some of the stars of "Built to Amaze": the King Charles Unicycle Troupe, a troupe of Brazilian-style dancers, clowns and the crew of Asian elephants, who enjoyed a smorgasbord of treats as schoolchildren learned fun facts about the giant animals (they eat about 200 pounds of food a day!).
