Grand Central Terminal is drawing more than just daily commuters this week during a special “Life’s a Picnic” event in Vanderbilt Hall. Families can escape the heat and relax in an indoor picnic space—complete with an Astroturf floor and picnic tables topped with gingham tablecloths—during daylong chill sessions that are free and open to the public.

Though the event began on Monday, families still have a chance to catch some fantastic kid-friendly performances today and Friday, August 22 between 7am and 7pm. Stake out a picnic table, take advantage of complimentary Wi-Fi, and enjoy an afternoon of entertainment with the kids.

On Thursday from 12:30–2pm, catch the America’s Got Talent dance crew, iLuminate when they put on a dazzling performance in their light-up suits, followed by a quirky musical love story, Revolution in the Elbow of Ragnar Agnarsson Furniture Painter. Jazz and blues guitarist Jason Green will then take the spotlight, providing an upbeat ambience from 4–7pm.

Return on Friday for an exciting “Broadway Hour,” featuring musical performances from some of the Great White Way’s most-loved shows including Chicago, Cinderella, Motown and Pippin between 12:30 and 1:30pm. Inti & the Moon, a Latin fusion guitar band will close out the week’s events from 4–7pm.

Plenty of nosh will be available for purchase from 11am–4pm daily including tasty treats from Junior’s and Magnolia Bakeries, Murray’s Cheese, Two Boots Pizza, Ciao Bella Gelato and more. Enter to win some Grand Central limited-edition prizes as well, with 10 winners announced in daily drawings from 12–2pm.
