All the cool kids live in Brooklyn, and a comical new children’s book is proof. Designed for little ones ages 1 to 3, Brooklyn Baby features some of the most beloved landmarks of the borough’s hippest neighborhoods, reports DNAinfo.
According to Brooklyn Baby, Kings County kids take after their plaidshirt–rocking, kale-munching parents. In one of illustrator Violet Lemay’s vibrant scenes, Brooklyn tots (accompanied by their skinny-jeans-clad moms and dads) sample trendy snacks like pickled beets at Smorgasburg in DUMBO. And while most parents can’t get their kids to take a single bite of broccoli, these pint-sized foodies are all over Marmalade Mama’s kale jelly.
Brooklyn-dwelling readers of all ages will also recognize Jane’s Carousel, Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and the Brooklyn Museum. According to author Lisa McKeon, a Westchester public school literary specialist with two small children, local kids can really relate to the stories and illustrations in Brooklyn Baby, which “depict their everyday lives.”
Brooklyn Baby will be officially released in October, but you can get the board book now on Amazon for $8.05.
