Fête Paradiso on Governors Island

This weekend (July 13 and 14) marked the first in a summer-long series of vintage carnival rides at the much-anticipated Fete Paradiso, where families ferried to Governors Island for French fare and 19th-century amusements. Kids rode boat swings, flying chairs, a Chinese dragon and a bicycle carousel from 1897 before settling inside an old Parisian bumper car pavilion for crepes and Croque Monsieurs courtesy of Le Gamin. But the Bastille Day weekend festivities didn’t stop there: On Sunday, families were treated to French musical performances and sugary snacks from a vintage cotton candy machine.
