We asked Lisa Mendoza, the owner of the Painted Pot, what her family enjoys doing on Saturdays and Sundays.

"I have my hands full with more than just clay being a single mom and running three locations, but I make time to volunteer at my kids' school. With my daughters, Anju, 10 and Chloe, 8, by my side, I am fortunate to be doing what I love."

"Our scooters are our best mode of transportation on the weekends. It's a great way for all of us to get some exercise and have fun. We'll scooter over to Carroll Park to meet friends and then we'll head down Smith Street for dinner."

"Our favorite brunch place is Le Petit Cafe on Court Street. We have been dining there for years and we love Tommy Perez, the owner. Anju and I will order the polenta, beans and eggs while Chloe loves the whole wheat banana walnut pancakes. There is always so much food so we end up sharing dishes."

"Friday night is our sushi night and though, Ki Sushi in Boerum Hill is always busy, we manage to find our favorite seats at the sushi bar. The girls and I are foodies and we love the sushi deluxe. Chloe can eat five salmon rolls in one meal!"

"For our sweet treat, we scooter over to 16 Handles on Court Street. The girls and I love frozen yogurt. Our favorite toppings are mochi, raspberries and non pareils; I love heath bar crunch too. Anju always goes for the eurotart with mochi."

"Every Memorial Day weekend, the girls and I participate in the General Clinton Canoe Regatta on Saturday. It's the longest single day flat water canoe race in the world; it starts in Otsego Lake, Cooperstown and ends in Bainbridge in upstate New York. I will paddle one leg of the race while the girls cheer me on. To celebrate the end of the race, we enjoy a wonderful country fair."

In 1998, Lisa Mendoza gave up a successful career in television as a video editor and created the Painted Pot, a now extremely popular pottery studio in Brooklyn. "My goals to create a healthier lifestyle and see more sun led me to open two studios—one in Carroll Gardens and another in Bay Ridge," says Lisa. Over a year ago, the mom of two opened a third Painted Pot in Park Slope. We caught up with Lisa to find out what her family enjoys doing on the weekend and what the trio has planned for the Memorial Day holiday. Scroll through the slide show above to read about her favorite Saturday and Sunday activities.
