Sakura Matsuri 2013 at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden once again celebrated spring the Japanese way: with a giant, culture-packed cherry blossom festival: Sakura Matsuri 2013. Besides taking in the sights, sounds and smells of gorgeous blooming cherry trees, kids and their parents watched taiko drumming and traditional dance performances, plus live sword-fighting and calligraphy demos, and also took part in creative workshops galore—think manga drawing, origami and whirling pinwheel making. Click through our slide show, above, for a glimpse at one of New York's most festive happenings.
