Lantern Floating for Peace 2013

We've been looking forward to the Lantern Floating for Peace ceremony—the first for New York City (other ceremonies have taken place in Japan and Hawaii)—since we heard about it a few months back. And good news: The event, which took place on Sunday, September 22 at Trump Rink in Central Park, didn't disappoint.

RECOMMENDED: Free things to do in NYC this fall

Kids and parents of all backgrounds built, decorated and then floated their own creations on a pond inside Trump Rink—all in the name of peace. Click through our slide show, and watch the beautiful videos below, to see the lanterns on their journey—we guarantee you'll be inspired.
