Sesame Place opens for the 2013 season on April 27

Fans of Elmo, Bert, Ernie and the rest of the Sesame crew, rejoice: Sesame Place in Pennsylvania reopens for the season on Saturday, April 27. If you're planning a day trip to the theme park for opening day, you should consider getting there on the early side: Lines do tend to get long. Also, the first family to walk through the gates will get to take part in a special red carpet meet-and-greet with Sesame Street characters; the first 500 guests to visit Mr. Hooper's Emporium will receive a special gift.

Once inside, don't miss Blast Off, which launches kids and parents to Planet Elmo and Grover's World Twirl, which takes little ones on an internationally themed teacup ride. On hot days, head straight to Big Bird's Rambling River, which sends your family floating around the park on inner tubes, or to the Count's Splash Castle, a combination of slides, water wheels, bridges and an eight-foot-tall bucket that dumps a thousand gallons of H2O on the folks underneath it. Before leaving, take a stroll through the life-size re-creation of the Sesame Street set, keeping an eye out for Ernie and Bert's house.

The park is also scheduled to host several special activities throughout the season, including a superhero party with Grover in May, a Laurie Berkner concert in June and Bert's birthday bash in July.

100 Sesame Rd, Langhorne, PA (866-464-3566, sesameplace.com). $60, children under 2 free. Opens April 27; check website for daily schedule.
