It may be the middle of winter, but we're never to cold for ice cream! One of our absolute favorite ice cream shops in the city, Ample Hills Creamery, recently shared the scoop on their new brick-and-mortar location slated to open at 305 Nevins Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn this May. Much larger than their current Prospect Heights shop, the 3,600-square-foot building will provide enough space for a manufacturing facility in addition to a retail counter. Families who scream for ice cream will be able to enjoy their cones at indoor and outdoor seating areas including an outside deck. The creamery's production will also quadruple thanks to increased kitchen size, allowing the shop to churn out around two dozen flavors and eventually sell their unique concoctions by the pint.

If a new roster of flavors and the ability to bring a pint home to enjoy isn't enough to get the family out to Gowanus, make a day of it and head to nearby kid-friendly climbing gym Brooklyn Boulders to work up an appetite. Rewarding the kids with a scoop of Maple Bacon or Cinnamon Toast ice cream will make for the perfect end to a sweet day.
