Discovery Kids, with high-quality but low-performing TV shows such as Adventure Camp, was looking for some buzz. Toy giant Hasbro, with commercial smashes like The Transformers, was looking to expand its offerings. A match made in synergistic heaven? We'll find out when the two companies team up on the Hub (it's replacing Discovery Kids on your cable channel guide come October 10). Full disclosure: We haven't seen any of the shows yet, but here are the programs we think sound most promising.
For preschoolers On The WotWots, colorful alien puppets who talk like Boobahs land in an Australian zoo and interact with adorable real-life animals.
For older kids Those looking for some creepy suspense (but not gore or violence) can check out The Haunting Hour, a live-action thriller based on R.L. Stine's popular books.
For the whole clan On Family Game Night, families compete against other clans in games like Cranium and Boggle.
For retro appeal The Transformers—the jewel of the Hasbro dynasty—is getting an all-new CGI version, and It girl Betty White does a guest voiceover on Pound Puppies.
