Warm nights and the 11th annual Central Park Conservancy Film Festival are just around the corner. This year, New Yorkers have the lucky opportunity to vote for the five free flicks to be shown at the fest (Aug 22–26), each representing one of five different genres: classic, family, romantic comedy, horror and adventure. (Each category offers four films to choose from.) Viewers will have the chance to see a screening of West Side Story or Funny Lady one night and Kung Fu Panda or Annie another. This traditional summer event at the lawn above Sheep Meadow (entrance at 72nd St) invites New Yorkers of all ages to relax on blankets with picnics in tow to take in a flick on the oversize inflatable screen—gratis snacks, like gourmet popcorn, included. Whether you’re in the mood for When Harry Met Sally, Frankenstein or Goldfinger, hop online (centalparknyc.org/filmfestival) to cast your ballots by June 28.
