Chris McCaw, "Marking Time"
Time Out says
Tue Dec 18 2012
The term solarized, as it applies to photography, takes a new and literal meaning in the work of Chris McCaw, who uses a self-built large-format camera to subject pieces of vintage photo paper to outdoor exposures lasting up to 24 hours. The sun's rays, focusing through the high-resolution lens—borrowed from military surveillance equipment—actually singes the paper, leaving an arcing burn mark that traces the movement of the sun across the sky.
