Fountain Art Fair

Founded in 2006 as an alternative art fair, Fountain—which takes its name from Duchamp's urinal readymade—has been situated in the same location where the artist's Nude Descending a Staircase made its famous New York debut in 1913. Fountain has worked mightily to project the same spirit, even as it has grown closer to institutional status. But it's still a lot of fun, and remains the one art fair that emphasizes performance art along with other mediums.
