Sietsema is known for a sort of self-reflexive trompe l'oeil painting that focuses on the medium itself. Images like that of a ringed stain left on a piece of newspaper by a paint can—all realistically rendered in minute detail—are typical. His latest paintings offer more of the same, but some have more conventional subjects (a phone with its receiver next to it, for example). New drawings and a 35mm film are also on view.
