Stan Douglas, "Disco Angola"

Much as he did with his paean to midcentury photography, Douglas here assumes the role of a fictional photographer—this time as a lensman who documented the mid-1970s disco scenes in New York City and the African country of Angola. The images, while seemingly authentic to the period, are in fact assiduously researched re-creations.
