From 1834 to 1907, the firm Currier & Ives produced more than one million prints of American life, replicating NYC scenes such as Central Park's ice pond on a wide scale. The museum’s extensive collection of these lithographs includes pieces by Childe Hassam and John O’Brien Inman, which popularized wintry images of one-horse open sleighs and bundled-up 19th-century skaters into the country’s memory.
