The beloved Kentile Floors sign that was dismantled in 2014 could be getting a new lease on life. The Gowanus Alliance, a neighborhood improvement group that was given the sign when it was taken down, is reportedly considering reconstructing the de facto Brooklyn monument on 10th Street between Second and Third Avenue. Currently, the organization is applying for grant money for the project and approaching local businesses about sponsoring individual letters.

Working with a plan from Gowanus by Design, the Alliance is hoping the reconstructed sign could serve as a draw for visitors to quieter area of Gowanus, as well as serving as an impetus for transforming the intersection under the train tracks into a green space.
