The holidays have the power to turn even the Scroogiest New Yorker into a Holiday Cheermesiter. And since having a cold black heart gets a little more uncomfortable as the mercury drops, now’s a great time to channel those warm-fuzzy feelings, ditch the naughty act and start helping those less fortunate.

There are plenty of holiday volunteer opportunities in New York, but this weekend, you can give back and receive good tidings in return. Now until Dec 23, several bars in Brooklyn are collecting blankets for the homeless in exchange for a free brew of your choice. From Mini Bar in Caroll Gardens to Monro Pub in Park slope, here’s a small (but mighty in craft beer) list of bars participating in Blankfest 2014.

Mary’s Bar (708 Fifth Ave, Park Slope, Brooklyn), Lucey’s Lounge (475 3rd Avenue, Gownaus, Brooklyn), Monro Pub (481 5th Avenue, Park Slope, Brooklyn), Mini Bar (482 Court Street, Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn), Kool Chez (524 3rd Avenue, Gowanus, Brooklyn), Table 87 (473 3rd Avenue, Gowanus, Brooklyn and 87 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn).
