Morgenstern's put chocolate into Brodo's beef-bone broth and it's actually good

Ice-cream whiz Nick Morgenstern (Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream) and bone-broth champion Marco Canora (Brodo) have joined forces for a head-scratching, soul-warming concoction that you'll definitely want to try when (and if) it finally gets cold out. Offered at the take-out window at Morgenstern's starting today, the St. Nick ($7.75 for a ten-ounce cup) is an unlikely marriage of Morgenstern's-supplied 100-percent chocolate, Brodo's Time Out New York-approved grass-feed beef broth and a shot of coconut milk that comes together as equal parts unsweetened hot cocoa and savory cup-o'-soup.

After taste-testing our own cocoa-broth cups, Time Out editors were pleasantly surprised by the depth and richness of the flavors within, and the fact that there was no sweet-savory overkill. Although chocolate initially hits the nose, the taste is a multi-layered beef broth, accented by the sharp bitterness of the chocolate and rounded out by the richness of the coconut. Want to try it for yourself? The wintry elixir will be available, along with the rest of the Brodo menu, for the next few months at Morgenstern's. Just trust us on this one.
