Wanna sing karaoke tonight with Elizabeth Gilbert?

Strange but true, and awesome too: Eat, Pray, Love author, TED talk maestro and social media boss Elizabeth Gilbert will sing "Total Eclipse of the Heart" tonight (April 8) at the Diamond Horseshoe nightclub here in NYC, and she's inviting fans to come join her on backing vocals. How, you may sensibly ask, did this happen? Well, Gilbert apparently went to the club for karaoke night last week, signed up to sing the ballad, nearly chickened out—then remembered that her whole thing is about encouraging people to be vulnerable and courageous in life. So she sang it, posted about it on Facebook, and her online community demanded video evidence. Since she had none, she promised she'd do it again this week, if she could raise $10k for her favorite charity, BlinkNow. Well, she's accidentally gone and raised $110k, so tonight Gilbert will belt out the Bonnie Tyler classic, as well as a bonus round of Journey's "Faithfully," joined by YOU. Sound like fun? Get yourself down to the Diamond Horseshoe, in the basement of the Paramount Hotel (235 W 46th St) at 11pm, and sing yourself silly (after warming up on our karaoke songs masterlist). Oh, and if you'd like to make a donation to BlinkNow, a fine organization supporting Nepalese women and children, Gilbert will match your donations here until midnight tonight.
