This revered German institution comes to Carnegie Hall for two concerts, both under the leadership of insightful, feather-ruffling conductor Christian Thielemann. The first program, on Apr 17, is an all-Brahms outing with the Academic Festival Overture, Violin Concerto (featuring soloist Lisa Batiashvili) and Symphony No. 4; the second, on Apr 19, is devoted entirely to Bruckner's visionary Symphony No. 8.
