Addison Groove certainly isn't the only artist bringing the jagged bounce of juke and footwork genres into the larger bass-music matrix—hell, half of of the bass artists around today claim that those indigenous-to-Chicago sounds influence their music. But Mr. Groove—Tony Williams to his pals, the same man who produces slightly more traditional dubstep under the Headhunter moniker—is one of the best. He's just released an excellent juke-tinged LP, Transistor Rhythm, on Modeselektor's 50 Weapons label, and he'll be celebrating with a gig at Glasslands Gallery on Saturday, April 28. In the meantime, Williams has bestowed us with this great mix, somewhat more house-oriented than you might expect (as the name implies) but certainly no less floor-rocking.
