Whoa—this new cut from Marc Romboy, “The Trigger,” is a machine-tooled monster of a track, one that could well become one of the big cuts of the fall season. Just released on Romboy’s Systematic Recordings label, it’s a hard-charging builder of a song, its straight-ahead kick and snare augmented by syncopated hi-hats and angular bassline, all topped off with some lovely strings and sultry vocals courtesy of Parisian vocalist Möggli. (For the vocals-averse, Romboy’s thoughtfully included “The Tool,” a fully instrumental version of the cut.) We’re one of the few websites to be offering a stream of the tunes—but if you like what you hear, you can pick the record up here.
