Wed Feb 20 2013
The 14th Annual Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade and Festival traveled from Little Italy through Chinatown on February 17. The festivities marked the start of the Year of the Snake, a Chinese zodiac sign associated with intuition, cunning and introspection. But the celebrations aren't over yet: This Saturday, February 23, take a MOCA-guided walking tour through Chinatown to learn about New Year's customs, such as why you shouldn't sweep the floor. Or use our Chinatown neighborhood guide to find a restaurant where you can eat auspicious dishes, such as fish for abundance, noodles for a long life and dumplings for wealth.
