This Munich-style beer hall—decked out with alpine accents, communal wood tables and dirndl-and-lederhosen-clad servers—was ready-made for the beer-soaked German holiday. The festivities kicked off with ceremonial tappings of two kegs from Munich brewery Hofbräu, which the tavern serves exclusively. Pair yours (pints $8-$9) with traditional German fare, such as Wiener schnitzel ($18), slow-roasted pork shank ($31) or German potato salad ($4). Throughout the month, drinkers can enjoy live entertainment, including polka music from house bands the Polka Brothers and Alpine Squeeze, and beer-stein-holding contests known as Masskrugstemmen. On Oct 13, competitive eaters battle in the first annual Bierhaus NYC National Oktoberfest Bratwurst Eating Championship. Call ahead to reserve a seat ($25 food and drink minimum for one seat) or table ($250 minimum to reserve a ten-person table).
