Located two doors down from the Beacon Theatre, Hotel Beacon puts up travelers, businesspeople and musicians—in fact, there’s a passageway straight from the stage door to the hotel. Don’t expect a hip, rock & roll vibe, though: The guest quarters, which are spacious by NYC standards, emphasize comfort with a more subtle style. At 300 square feet, standard rooms are furnished with one king-size or two double beds, and decorated in a palette of soft greens designed to induce a feeling of calm. All quarters are equipped with free Wi-Fi, kitchenettes, 32-inch flatscreen TVs and iPod docks, and most of the luxurious marble-clad bathrooms feature bathtubs. The hotel recently installed a 24-hour fitness center and the Beacon Bar, which serves cocktails and globally influenced small plates. The fifth-floor laundry room, which has a total of eight washers and dryers, is a boon for light packers. Rooms: 272.
