Houston Person Quartet

Critics' pick
Houston Person's career offers proof that jazz has never really been out of favor. He started in the ’60s playing groovy sax—often in tandem with the late, great Etta Jones—and has pretty much stayed the course ever since. Here he plays his consummately laid-back blend of blues, ballads and bop with help from pianist John DiMartino, bassist Matthew Parrish and drummer Chip White.
