Brooklynite Missy Mazzoli's hypnotic-but-aggressive music is played often, around town. So the great thing about this Miller Theatre showcase is the way it presents the composer's work with new local collaborators. The ETHEL string quartet gives the world premiere of the piece it commissioned from Mazzoli, Quartet for Queen Mab. A more familiar piece like Tooth and Nail (recorded memorably by Nadia Sirota) is played tonight by violist Nathan Schram. The Mivos Quartet and soprano Marnie Breckenridge are among the other talents on hand for this set.
