Rachel Brooke, a punk-reared country singer from Michigan, traffics in darkly stylized retro-roots fare. As heard on last year's A Killer's Dream, Brooke's output is super-stylized—David Lynch would likely approve—but its lurid atmospherics seem thoroughly genuine to us.
