Wrekmeister Harmonies

In the same conceptual vein as Sunn O))), Wrekmeister Harmonies, a loose-knit Chicago collective led by J.R. Robinson, mingles doom-metal aesthetics with noise, drone and classical textures. Robinson recently commemorated the release of the new Wrekmeister LP, You've Always Meant So Much to Me, with a performance in a Windy City cemetery; tonight he harvests the same dark vibes in a cozy Kings County metal bar, with help from various underground-metal heavies. One of the supporting players, Hunter Hunt-Hendrix—of the trailblazing and controversial avant-black-metal outfit Liturgy—opens the show with his side project Survival, a band that combines proggish post-hardcore with tranced-out vocal chants.
